Remove a bundle in Next mode

Use bundle dev remove with a bundle definition while developing locally. Use bundle remove with a local artifact or OCI reference.

What you’ll accomplish

• Remove all packages in a bundle.
• Remove selected packages when their dependencies allow it.
• Require confirmation before removal.

Prerequisites

• UDS CLI installed
• A bundle directory containing bundle.uds.hcl, a local .tar.zst artifact, or an OCI bundle reference
• Access to the target Kubernetes cluster
• A matching bundle public key or keyless certificate constraints when removing an artifact

Steps

1. Choose the removal command

   Remove all packages defined by bundle.uds.hcl in the current directory during local development:

   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle dev remove

   To remove packages using a created artifact, provide its local path or OCI reference. Artifact removal requires a verification policy unless you explicitly skip verification for an unsigned local alpha workflow:

   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle remove ./my-bundle.tar.zst --public-key ./cosign.pub
   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle remove oci://registry.example.com/my-org/my-app:1.0.0 --public-key ./cosign.pub

2. Remove selected packages

   Pass package IDs with --packages:

   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle dev remove ./my-bundle --packages api,frontend

   The command blocks removal when another bundle package depends on a selected package. Add --force only when you accept that dependency risk:

   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle dev remove ./my-bundle --packages database --force

3. Confirm before removal

   Use --prompt to require interactive confirmation:

   CLI_FEATURES=NextMode=true uds bundle dev remove ./my-bundle --prompt

Verification

The command reports the bundle and packages selected for removal before it removes them. Use your cluster’s normal health checks to confirm that the package resources are gone.
